The three-year run of making the playoffs for the New England Revolution ended in 2017, as the team finished 7th in the Eastern Conference. The Revolution began play in Major League Soccer in 1994. They play their games at Gillette Stadium for owner Robert Kraft. New England has been like the Buffalo Bills of the NFL, as they have made the final five times, but never won. They lost their first MLS Cup final in 2002 and they lost in 2005, 2006 and 2007. The last time the Revolution made the final was in 2014 and it was yet another loss.
The main rival for New England is the New York Red Bulls. The Revolution had a 20-match unbeaten streak against New York that ended in 2014. New England also has a new rival in New York City FC who began play in 2015.
Although New England has never won the MLS Cup they have won the North American SuperLiga and the U.S. Open Cup.
