2017-18-DC-United-Betting-Picks-at-JustBet-Sportsbook

D.C. United is coming off a very disappointing season, as they finished last in the Eastern Conference in 2017.  D.C. United is not a team accustomed to losing, as they are considered one of the most successful clubs in MLS history.  The Red and Black are expected to make a number of moves in the summer transfer window, so this team should be vastly improved and exciting to watch at the new Audi Field, opening up in 2018. Even though D.C. United finished last in 2017, anything less than making the playoffs and being a contender would be considered unacceptable for this team in 2018.

D.C. United MLS Odds

The odds on D.C. United for the 2018 season could be very fluid, as the team is expected to make a number of high profile moves. The team will be playing at Audi Field and ownership will want to bring in a big name to excite the fans. D.C. United is not a contender to win the MLS Cup based on the 2017 squad, but that could change depending upon what moves the team makes in the summer of 2018.

MLS Results

The 2017 season for D.C. United was nothing short of a disaster. The team started poorly with three straight shutouts and it didn’t get much better throughout the season. The team ended the year by going 1-5-1. Part of the problem for United was that ownership didn’t make many moves to upgrade the team before the season started. United did make some good deadline deals, as they got Paul Arriola, Zoltan Stieber, Bruno Miranda and Russell Canouse. The bad news for United is that they will have to replace one of their top players, as goalkeeper Bill Hamid moved on.  United went 6-8 at home last season with 3 draws, being outscored 20-16 and they were 3-12 on the road with 2 draws, being outscored by a combined margin of 40-15.

Players to Watch

United has some players to watch including Canouse, Arriola and Stieber. Canouse looked really good last season, and at 22-years old, his best years are ahead of him.

The Coach

Ben Olsen is on the hot seat after a very poor 2017 season. He has led this club since 2010 and had a lot of success but two straight losing seasons could spell the end for him with United.

D.C. United History

D.C. United is one of the most successful teams in MLS history and one of the charter members. They began play in 1996 and since that time they have won four MLS Cups, three U.S. Open Cups and they have competed at the CONCACAF Champions League. The team played their games at RFK Stadium in the District of Columbia but in 2018 they will move into the new Audi Field, a few blocks away from Nationals Park. Even though D.C. United has had a lot of success, they also hold the record for fewest wins in a season, as in 2013 the club won just three games. The top rival for D.C. United is the New York Red Bulls, and the teams compete each season for the Atlantic Cup.

D.C. United Predictions

D.C. United should rebound in a big way in 2018. The team simply has too much talent to play so poorly for two straight years and they shouldn’t have nearly as many injuries as they had a year ago. The team should also do a lot in the transfer window to make major upgrades. Making the playoffs and contending in the Eastern Conference is not too much to ask from D.C. United in 2018.
