Valencia is coming off a disappointing season a year ago that saw them finish in 12th place. Los Che actually went through three coaches last season but they seem to have some stability now with Marcelino in charge. His problem is a roster that appears to be weaker than it was a year ago. The club lost a number of high profile players and did very little to replace them. Finishing in the upper half of the table in 2017-2018 is not realistic for Valencia, so the question is whether they will fall far enough to be in a relegation fight.
Valencia La Liga Futures Odds
Odds To Win La Liga: +5000 (Field)
Odds to Finish in Top 4: +700
Valencia is not a contender to win La Liga this season and realistically they are not a threat to finish in the Top 4. Their odds of +700 are not nearly generous enough considering all of the losses the team suffered in the off-season. Matching last year’s 12th place finish would be considered a success for Valencia based on their current roster.

What's New?
Valencia brought in Neto and Simone Zaza from Juventus, Nemanja Maksimovic from Astana and got loan returns of Alvaro Negredo from Middlesbrough and Ruben Vezo from Granada. They received Fabian Orellana from Celta Vigo, Gabriel from Arsenal, and Jeison Murillo and Geoffrey Kondogbia on loan from Inter. Another late addition for Valencia is Goncalo Guedes, who they got on loan from PSG.
The addition of Kondogbia is considered a key one for Valencia and he is excited to be with Valencia. "I'm delighted to be here." Kondogba said. He played for Sevilla in the 2012-2013 season before he was sold to Monaco, and he made 50 Serie A appearances for Inter Milan.
What's Gone?
The team lost Joao Cancelo to Inter, Yoel Rodriguez to Eibar, Mathew Ryan to Brighton, Diego Alves to Flamengo, Enzo Perez to River Plate, Alvaro Negredo to Besiktas, Pablo Piatti to Espanyol, Aderlan Santos on loan to Sao Paulo, Zakaria Bakkali on loan to Deportivo, and they had loan expire on Mario Suarez, Munir El Haddadi, Eliaquim Mangala and Guilherme Siqueira.
Valencia 2017-18 Predictions
Valencia finished in 12th place last season and for much of the season they were not that exciting to watch. They went 8-7 with 4 draws at home, while going 5-11 with 3 road draws. They scored 32 home goals but gave up 32, while on the road they were outscored 33-24.
Los Che finished with 46 points but they were no threat to the top seven, as they finished 17 points behind 7th place Athletic Bilbao. Valencia was actually closer to the relegation zone than they were to a European spot, as they finished 15 points ahead of Gijon who was relegated.
The question heading into the 2017-2018 season with Valencia is how far they will fall. They don’t appear to be any better than they were a year ago when they were no threat to the top teams. Valencia made very few positive moves in the off-season, so it is hard to see how they improve upon their 46 points. They could struggle to finish with a home record this season and that might mean they slip into the bottom third of the table. If Valencia finishes with 40 points, which seems the most likely scenario, that would put them anywhere from 14th to 16th place. Valencia will probably avoid relegation, but they are not a team that is going to threaten for an upper table finish in 2017-2018.
