Levante is back in La Liga after a one year absence, as they dominated Segunda last year, finishing 14 points clear of Girona. The 2017-2018 season will be the 12th for Levante in La Liga. The question will be whether or not Les Granotes can avoid relegation this season. Levante did add Ivory Coast midfielder Cheick Doukoure, Alex Alegria, on loan from Real Betis, and Ivan Lopez from Sevilla. The problem for Levante is that they lost Roger Marti to injury. Oddsmakers give Levante a decent chance to survive, as they put odds on Levante relegation at +160 for the 2017-2018 season.

Odds To Win La Liga: +5000 (Field)

Odds To Be Relegated: +160

Levante suffered a major blow heading into this season when top scorer Roger Marti was ruled out for six months with ligament damage in his left knee. If Levante is to survive without Marti they are going to need Alegria and Lopez to pick up the slack.  The addition of Antonio Luna from Eibar could also help Levante this season. There are a number of teams that could be in a relegation fight this season, so Levante could find a way to stay up if their new players come in and play well.

What's New?

They also got loan returns, as Victor Camarasa comes back from Alaves, Juan Delgado from Hercules, Deyverson from Alaves, Alvaro Traver from Logrones. The team also promoted Koke from Levante B.

What's Gone?

Levante lost Deyverson to Palmeiras, Natxo Insa to Johor Darul Ta’zim, Victor Camarasa to Betis and Víctor Casadesus to Tenerife. They also lost Paco Montanes to Espanyol on loan return in addition to Abraham Minero to Zaragoza, Juan Munoz to Sevilla and Rober Pier to Deportivo La Coruna. The team is loaning Ruben Garcia to Sporting Gijon, Esteban Saveljich to Albacete and Javier Espinoza to Granada.

Levante 2017-18 Predictions

It is never good news when you lose your top scorer, but Levante did make some nice offseason moves and they might have enough to avoid relegation this season. Levante was far and away the best team in Segunda last season and they definitely have the ability to finish in front of Girona and Getafe this season. They may also be able to finish in front of teams like Leganes, Las Palmas and Alaves. Oddsmakers are pretty high on Levante surviving this season, as Levante is listed behind three other teams and not that far behind and additional three teams.

The 2017-2018 season really comes down to how well Levante replaces Marti. Lopez is a key player, as he needs to pick up some of the slack. Levante is not a contender to finish in the upper half of the table but they do have enough to avoid relegation and they could get Marti back sometime in January.

If we look back three years ago we see that Levante finished in 14th place with 37 points. There is a chance that they can finish in a similar spot in 2017-2018. The team has enough to get between 35-40 points this season and that would probably be enough to avoid relegation. A finish between 14th place and 17th place looks to be the most likely scenario for Levante in 2017-2018.
