Leganes proved they belonged in La Liga last season, as they avoided relegation in their first-ever year in the top Spanish League. Can Leganes do enough to match or surpass their 17th place finish of a year ago? Leganes was able to hang onto manager Asier Garitano and they brought in some new players for this season, but it may not be enough. Leganes will be extremely focused for their matches against rival Getafe, as the teams will meet in La Liga action for the first time in their histories. Oddsmakers listed Los Pepineros at odds of +180 to be relegated.

Leganes 2017-18 Predictions
Leganes did just enough to avoid relegation last season but it wasn’t pretty. They were outscored by 19 goals on the season and their goal scoring was second-worst in the league, as they scored just 36 goals. The defense for Leganes was solid, as they allowed just 55 goals, but if Leganes is to avoid relegation this season they are going to have to score more than 36 times.
The preseason results showed that Leganes did next to nothing in terms of improve their offense. They picked up just one win against Rayo and lost to everyone else.
Oftentimes, teams that just barely avoid relegation one season have all kinds of issues the next season and that could be what happens to Leganes in 2017-2018. Oddsmakers definitely think Leganes is going to be in relegation danger this season, as they put the odds at +180 on Leganes being relegated. Those odds may actually be a bit generous, as there is not much to get excited about with this team.
Leganes seems headed for a relegation fight this season with newcomers Getafe, Girona and Levante. There is a good chance that Las Palmas is also in the mix with those teams, along with Levante and possibly Deportivo La Coruna and Alaves. Last season there were five teams separated near the bottom of the table by just eight points.
A relegation fight seems likely for Leganes in 2017-2018 and based on what the team didn’t do in the off-season, there is a decent chance that Leganes loses that fight and ends up in 18th or 19th place and out of La Liga next season.
