2017-18-SPAL-Betting-Odds-at-JustBet-Sportsbook

It will be an exciting season for SPAL in 2017-2018, as they make their return to Serie A for the first time in 49 years. The team won Serie B last season with 78 points. It is not out of the question that the team could stay up, as they have a good striker in Mirko Antenucci who led the team with 18 goals last season, a very good goalkeeper in Alex Meret and they made a number of solid off-season moves.

SPAL Serie A Odds

Odds To Win Serie A: +5000 (Field)

SPAL is obviously no threat to win Serie A, as they are listed as part of the field at odds of +5000. The question is whether or not the team can avoid relegation and it is definitely possible. They added some good players in the off-season and the bottom of Serie A is weak.

SPAL 2017-18 Predictions

Manager Leonardo Semplici has some talent to work with this season including goalkeeper Alex Meret who will need to play really well in this step up in competition. The starting lineup for SPAL this season should be Meret, Oikonomou, Vicari, Felipe, Lazzari, Grassi, Viviani, Mora, Konate, Paloschi and Floccari.

SPAL, short for Società Polisportiva Ars et Labor is not new to Serie A, as they have spent 21 previous seasons in the top flight but not since 1967-68.  The last time SPAL was in Serie A they finished 14th out of 16 clubs. The team has thrived of late under new president Walter Mattioli and sporting director Davide Vagnati. SPAL did not rest on their laurels of winning Serie B last year, as they went out and added a number of players for the 2017-2018 season.

Manager Semplici is known for his 3-5-2 formation and he has the talent to make it work. He has an experienced duo of Floccari and Antenucci to go along with fan favorite Lazzari. Those players should be helped this season by Marios Oikonomou, Felipe, Alberto Paloschi and Federico Viviani.

It is never easy going from Serie B to Serie A but SPAL has the potential to stay up in 2017-2018. They have a top notch goalkeeper in Meret and a big time scorer in Antenucci

SPAL went 14-2 at home last season with five draws, outscoring the opposition by a combined margin of 40-18. They were 8-6 on the road with 7 draws, outscoring the opposition by a combined margin of 26-21.

SPAL will be thought of as a team that will be in relegation danger this season but that might not be the case. Any team that has a good goalkeeper and a good striker has to be respected. SPAL also has a very good manager and they have some depth. Many times teams coming from Serie B will not have enough depth to contend in Serie A but that is not the case with SPAL.

It is not a stretch at all to see SPAL finishing above the relegation zone this season. They are not yet good enough to contend for an upper table finish but they could do enough to finish in 15th or 16th place and that would be considered a very successful season in 2017-2018.
