2017-18-Sassuolo-Betting-Odds-at-JustBet-Sportsbook

Sassuolo will look to bounce back in 2017-2018 after they finished a disappointing 12th last season. It was a major drop from the previous season in which they finished in sixth place. It may not be easy for Sassuolo to be improved, as they lost Gregoire Defrel to Roma. The team will need more from Alessandro Matri who scored eight goals for Sassuolo last season. Sassuolo will have a new look this season, as Eusebio Di Francesco is gone to Roma. Cristian Bucci takes over and he will need some of the newcomers to make an impact this season if the club is to finish in the top 10.

Odds To Win Serie A: +5000 (Field)

Sassuolo is not a threat to win Serie A and realistically they don’t look like much of a threat to finish in the top 6. They will need some of their younger players like Domenico Berardi to take a big step up. It helps that they get Diego Falcinelli back from Crotone and they have a good winger in Matteo Politano but there are too many questions on this team for them to contend.

Sassuolo 2017-18 Predictions

What should we think of Sassuolo with a new manager and with some new players? The starting lineup for the team this year should be Consigli, Lirola, Acerbi, Cannavaro, Peluso, Duncan, Mazzitelli, Sensi, Berardi, Falcinelli and Politano.

Manager Cristian Bucchi takes over after leading Perugia to a fourth place finish in Serie B last season. The problem Bucchi has is how to replace top scorer Gregoire Defrel and youngster Lorenzo Pellegrini. The good news is that the team has striker Diego Falcinelli back from Crotone and he will be expected to produce in a big way this season after scoring 13 goals a season ago. He and Alessandro Matri should spearhead the attack along with Berardi and Ricci.

The defense is definitely a problem but the team is hoping the addition of Riccardo Marchizza will help. Losing Pellegrini is a big blow but it wasn’t like Sassuolo was that great defensively a year ago with him.

It is expected that Bucchi will run a 4-3-3 system and mix and match his veterans with some of the young players. Captain Francesco Magnanelli will be expected to provide leadership and mentor the younger players.

Sassuolo went 7-9 at home last season with three draws, getting outscored by a combined 28-27. They were 6-9 on the road with four draws, outscored 35-31.

Many people are thinking that Sassuolo will rebound and do better than their 12th place finish from a season ago, but that may not be the case. The team actually looks weaker than they were a year ago. Not only do they have to figure out how to play under a new manager, they have to replace their top scorer, as Defrel is gone to Roma. There is no question that Sassuolo has some talented young players but it may take some time for everyone to get on the same page for Bucchi.

The most likely scenario for Sassuolo this season has them finishing in the bottom half of the table and it would not be a surprise to see the team actually finish worse than they did a year ago, which could mean a 13th or 14th place finish.
