AC Milan is coming off a season in which they finished in sixth place in Serie A, one point in front of their rivals Inter Milan, as they qualified for this year’s Europa League. AC Milan worked out a contract with 18-year old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma who looks to be a fixture on the team for many years to come. He will need to be good because Milan lost 20 goals from last year’s team, as Carlos Bacca and Gianluca Lapadula are gone. Finding consistent goal scoring will be a big key for Milan in 2017-2018.

AC Milan Serie A Odds

Odds To Win Serie A: +600

AC Milan is probably not a threat to win Serie A, as they look to be overvalued at odds of +600. Juventus is the clear choice to win Serie A and Milan doesn’t have enough talent to compete for the top spot. The question is whether or not Milan can compete for a top 3 position and a Champions League spot.

What's New?

AC Milan added Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus, Franck Kessie from Atalanta, Fabio Borini on loan from Sunderland, Ricardo Rodriguez from Wolfsburg, Hakan Calhanoglu from Bayer Leverkusen, Lucas Biglia from Lazio, Andre Silva from Porto, Mateo Musacchio from Villarreal, Antonio Donnarumma from Asteras Tripoli and Prezmek Bargiel from Ruch Chorzow.

What's Gone?

The team lost Keisuke Honda to Pachuca, Gerard Deulofeu to Barcelona, Diego Lopez to Espanyol, Alessandro Plizzari to Ternana, Juraj Kucka to Trabzonspor, Andrea Bertolacci to Genoa, Gianluca Lapadula to Genoa, Mattia De Sciglio to Juventus and Carlos Bacca on loan to Villarreal.

AC Milan 2017-18 Predictions

Milan is going to look a lot different in 2017-2018 than they did a year ago. They still have the same manager in Vincenzo Montella but they have a lot of new players. Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani are gone and have been replaced by Yonghong Li, Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli.

The addition of Bonucci is a huge one for the defense. He was excellent with Juventus and he is a big upgrade for Milan. Kessie and Conti are also good additions, as they come over from Atalanta and Biglia should go right into the lineup in the midfield after coming over from Lazio.

Montella is probably going to focus on a defense-first style because of the strength on defense and in goal. He probably will go with a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 system. The key player of course, is Donnarumma, who they are paying a ton of money to. If he plays as well as expected then Milan is going to play a lot of low scoring games.

The question for Milan is who is going to score the goals. Patrick Cutrone looked good in the summer so perhaps he can help out Giacomo Bonaventura. Milan will probably be going with a starting lineup of Donnarumma, Conti, Bonucci, Romagnoli, Rodriguez, Kessie, Biglia, Bonaventura, Suso, Andre Silva, and Calhanoglu with Cutrone a key sub.

Milan was 12-5 at home last season with two draws. They outscored opponents by a combined 32-20 at home. They were 6-6 on the road with 7 draws, scoring 25 goals and giving up 25 goals.

Milan is an interesting team for 2017-2018, as they have a lot of new players, many of which are very talented. Milan has a potential star in goal in Donnarumma, a big time player on defense in Bonucci and some good young players up front. Improving from last year’s sixth place finish is definitely possible for AC Milan and although they are probably not good enough to challenge Juventus for first place in Serie A, they could challenge for third place and a Champions League spot.
