Genoa just barely avoided relegation last season, as they finished with 36 points, good for 16th place. Genoa made one key addition in the off-season, as they added 27-year-old Gianluca Lapadula who was brought in from AC Milan. Genoa had a -26 goal differential a year ago, so they were actually fortunate to survive. That number needs to improve this season if they are to avoid relegation.
Genoa Serie A Odds
Odds To Win Serie A: +5000 (Field)
Genoa is no threat to win Serie A, as they are listed as part of the field at odds of +5000. Genoa doesn’t have a lot of good goal scorers and they don’t play great defense, so they are going to struggle again this season. The question is whether they have enough talent to avoid relegation in 2017-2018.

What's New?
The team added Gianluca Lapadula from AC Milan, Andrea Bertolucci on loan from AC Milan and Ervan Zukanovic on loan from Roma. The team also made a late addition, as they added Luca Rossettini from Torino.
What's Gone?
The team lost Ezequiel Munoz to Leganes and they lost Giovanni Simeone to Fiorentina. The loss of Simeone is a big one, as he scored 11 goals last season.
Genoa 2017-18 Predictions
Manager Ivan Juric will look to keep Genoa above the relegation zone this season. It was ugly for a lot of last season but the club did just enough to avoid relegation. The starting lineup for 2017-2018 should be Perin, Spolli, Zukanovic, Gentiletti, Lazovic, Bertolacci, Veloso, Laxalt, Rodriguez, Lapadula and Centurion.
Juric had Genoa in the top 10 at one point last season and Genoa was a club that could beat the best, as they defeated Juventus and Milan. The success didn’t last and Genoa struggled mightily down the stretch and just barely avoided relegation.
This year’s squad might be improved with the addition of Lapadula and Bertolacci from Milan and Ervin Zukanovic from Roma. They also have an exciting young player in Pietro Pellegri who should see more action this year.
What can we expect from Genoa this season? Will it be the squad that contended for a European spot or the team that slipped into relegation danger?
Genoa was 6-6 at home last season with 7 draws. They scored 24 goals and gave up 24 goals. They were awful on the road, going 3-14 with 2 draws, being outscored 40-14.
Genoa is not a team that is going to contend for a top spot in Serie A and they don’t look to have enough talent to finish in the top 10. They simply don’t have enough goal scoring options, especially with the loss of Simeone. Genoa made a few additions in the off-season but they didn’t do enough to improve their goal scoring, and in fact, they could actually be weaker on offense than they were a year ago and that is saying something considering only four teams were worse on offense than Genoa a year ago.
Could Genoa be a team that slips into relegation danger this season? The answer might be yes, as the club doesn’t look any better than they were a year ago when they finished only four points clear of Empoli. Genoa seems to be a club that is picked by experts to avoid relegation danger, but based on what the team did in the off-season it is hard to get too excited about their chances. The one thing in their favor is the weakness of the bottom of Serie A, as Benevento and Crotone look really bad. Perhaps Genoa can avoid a relegation battle in 2017-2018 but it is definitely not a given.
