Stuttgard is back in the Bundesliga, as they won the second division last year, finishing two points in front of Hannover. Stuttgart might have enough talent to avoid relegation this season, as they have a top goal scorer in Simon Terodde who has 47 goals in the last two years. Stuttgart proved to be a tough road team a year ago, as they picked up 28 away points, so they might not be easy picking for other Bundesliga teams in 2017-2018.

Stuttgart is no threat to win the Bundesliga, so the question is whether or not they can avoid relegation. The team started slowly last season which led to the sacking of Jos Luhukay, as he was replaced by Hannes Wolf. It was Wolf who led the team to a successful season and he may be able to keep them in the Bundesliga beyond this season.

VfB Stuttgart) 2017-18 Predictions
Stuttgart is definitely not going to be afraid of anyone in the Bundesliga as they were in the top flight just two years ago. They actually won the league in 2006-2007 so they have a solid history. They also have some talented players and after some poor management for a few years, they look to be on solid ground in the front office with Michael Reschke the new sporting director.
Stuttgart made some nice moves in the off-season, as they added Mangala, Burnic, Akolo and Donis. Those players should provide support for Terodde who is a top notch scorer. Stuttgart may also get a boost from Holger Badstuber who finally looks healthy.
Stuttgart was no fluke a year ago in the second division, as they won 12 matches by two goals or more and only lost twice by two goals or more. They do rely heavily on Terodde to score, but perhaps they can get more this season from players like Mangala and Gentner.
Stuttgart is not your average promoted team, as they are considered a football power in Germany. They have two very good players in Terodde and Gentner and some young talent. Stuttgart is not going to do what Leipzig did a year ago, but that may never happen again. Stuttgart is definitely going to score goals, but they are also going to allow quite a few, as their defense is nothing special.
Stuttgart will probably play a 4-4-2 formation with Terodde and Ginczek as forwards but there will be times they are in a 4-3-2-1. Stuttgart finished second last season in both possession and pass success percentage. They finished in the middle of the table in both tackles per match and shots allowed.
Stuttgart is well managed by Wolf and they should have enough to avoid relegation this season. They don’t have enough talent to make a serious run at a European spot so a finish just outside of the top 10 looks to be the most likely scenario for VfB Stuttgart in 2017-2018.
