Eintracht Frankfurt made some progress last season, as they had a good first half and they made the DFB-Cup final. The team had a good off-season with some good recruits, so perhaps Frankfurt could make more progress in 207-2018. The one problem for Frankfurt is the back injury to star player Marco Fabian who is expected to miss the first two months of the season. If Frankfurt can survive the early part of the season without Fabian they should be able to compete for an upper half of the table finish this season and it is not out of the question that the team competes for a Europa League spot.

Eintracht Frankfurt Bundesliga Futures Odds

Odds To Win Bundesliga: +2500 (Field)

Frankfurt has no chance to win the Bundesliga, as they are part of the field at odds of +2500. Frankfurt finished in 11th place last season and they could be improved in 2017-2018 if Fabian comes back healthy and ready to go. Frankfurt could be a threat to finish in the top 7 if everything goes well.

What's New?

Frankfurt added Danny da Costa from Bayer Leverkusen, Jonathan de Guzman from Napoli, Gelson Fernandes from Rennes, Sebastien Haller from Utrecht, Luka Jovic from Benfica, Daichi Kamada from Sagan Tosu, Carlos Salcedo on loan from Guadalajara, Jan Zimmerman from 1860 Munich, Renat Dadashov from Academy, Noel Knothe from Academy, Nelson Mandela from Academy and Jetro Willems from PSV Eindhoven.

The addition of Willems could be a good one, as he looks to be an upgrade on Bastian Oczipka. He played well for the Netherlands and he could provide a spark this season for Frankfurt. Another player to watch is Kamada, who comes over from Sagan Tosu. He looked good in the preseason and could provide a spark.

What's Gone?

Frankfurt lost Michael Hector to Chelsea, Heinz Lindner to Zurich, Bastian Oczikpa to Schalke, Ante Rebic to Fiorentina, Haris Seferovic to Benfica, Jesus Vallejo to Real Madrid, Guillermo Varela to Manchester United and Zurkan Zorba to VfL Osnabruck.

Eintracht Frankfurt 2017-18 Predictions

If Frankfurt wants to challenge for 7th place and a Europa League spot they simply have to play better on the road. They were just 4-11-2 away from home last season. They also need to find a way to win more close games, as they played far too many draws a year ago, seven at home and two on the road.

The big problem for Frankfurt is goal scoring, as their leading scorer last season had just seven goals. Frankfurt is an excellent defensive team but to win games, they have to find someone to score. Last season Frankfurt gave up the third-fewest shots, fourth-fewest shots on target, and fifth-fewest shots inside the box. The defense might not be as good this season, as gone is Jesus Vallejo.

The Eagles scored just 36 goals last season, fifth-fewest in the Bundesliga. It is hard to see how they improve on that number, especially with Fabian out at the beginning of the season. The team only created 277 chances last season. To put that in perspective, that is about half of the number of chances Bayern created.

Frankfurt has enough talent to contend for 7th place in the Bundesliga but only when everyone is on the pitch. The problem for this team is that they start the season banged up and every point will be crucial. It is hard to see how the team improves that much on last year’s 11th place finish. The Eagles seem likely to finish right around the middle of the table in 2017-2018, which means 9th place.
