Troyes 2017-18 Predictions
Troyes is an interesting newcomer to Ligue 1 for the 2017-2018 season. They have a good manager in Jean-Louis Garcia who led the team to a good finish in Ligue 2 last season. He pulled together a team that was a mess in 2015-2016 into a capable squad. Troyes is definitely better than they were the last time they were in Ligue 1when they finished with just 18 points.
Troyes has some capable scorers in Nivet and Niane and it could be another successful season for both players. Niane scored 23 goals last season in Ligue 2 and he has the talent to produce at the highest level.
Troyes was an excellent home team a year ago, as they went 13-2 with 4 draws, outscoring opponents by a combined 34-14. They struggled a bit on the road, going 6-8 with 5 draws, outscored by a combined 29-25.
Troyes did not do much in the off-season but that is not necessarily bad news, as the squad looks solid. Troyes may not be considered a contender in Ligue 1 but they have enough talent to surprise some people this season. They probably can’t contend for an upper level finish but they can avoid the relegation zone and for a team that was in Ligue 2 last season and one that finished last in Ligue 1 two years ago, that would be considered a success. A 14th or 15th place finish is definitely possible for Troyes in 2017-2018.
