Fans of AS Monaco probably feel like the roof caved in, as the team went from winning the Ligue 1 last season with 95 points to losing a number of top players including Mbappe, Silva and Mendy. The good news for Monaco is that they did complete the signings of Keita Balde and Stevan Jovetic to go along with newcomers Youri Tielemans and Terence Kongolo. Monaco lost a lot in the off-season but they took in a boatload of money and they may still be able to compete for a Champions League spot, although beating PSG for the Ligue 1title may be out of reach in 2017-2018.

Monaco is still given a chance to compete for the title in Ligue 1 but it is hard to see them competing with a PSG team that now has Neymar and Mbappe. Monaco still has some talented players but they will need everything to go right to challenge PSG for the league title in 2017-2018.

AS Monaco 2017-18 Predictions
Wow, it is amazing the turnover at Monaco in one season. After winning Ligue 1 for the first time in 17 years, they sold off many players but they also took in quite a few. They also invested in a lot of younger players including 14-year-old Hannibal Mejbri. They also signed Youri Tielemans who is 20-years old and Keita Balde who is 22-years old.
Monaco will probably lose Tielemans and Balde next year but for now they combine with Jorge, Rony Lopes and Adama Diakhaby to form a solid core. Lopes said to Goal.com that he thinks his team can still contend for a title this season. "All eyes are on us. Some great players have left, indeed, however also new ones have joined in," he said. "Besides, the most important is still here: the structure, the staff, the culture is the same as last season. Everyone who loves football must enjoy watching Monaco play. Our culture is very attacking, but if you watch carefully we also know how to defend. Working as a block has been one of our biggest strengths and our coach has been decisive on the way we play. To those who doubt we can repeat or overcome last year's results, we have only one thing to do: shut them up with victories.”
Monaco is still going to score plenty of goals, as they still have Radamel Falcao and they should still finish in a top four position, but to put pressure on PSG they will have to get a lot out of their younger players who may not be ready for the pressure of Ligue 1 play. Monaco will also have to navigate Champions League play so their depth will be tested. Monaco probably won’t win Ligue 1 in 2017-2018 but they should still contend for a 2nd place finish.
