It wasn’t that long ago that Eibar was in Segunda, but last season the Armeros finished in 10th place in La Liga. Eibar did lose Florian Lejeune to Newcastle but they added Paulo Oliveira from Sporting Lisbon and they got Charles from Malaga and Joan Jordan from Espanyol. Eibar has a good manager in Jose Luis Mendilibar and they seem to be in no danger of relegation. Eibar has improved in each of their previous three seasons in La Liga and they are getting closer to a Europa League spot. Could 2017-2018 be the season in which Eibar challenges for 7th place?

Odds To Be Relegated: +700
Eibar is not a threat to win La Liga but they probably are in no real relegation danger. They finished with 54 points last season, which was 23 points clear of the relegation zone. Eibar is much closer to getting a Europa League spot than they are to relegation. The Armeros finished just nine points behind Athletic Bilbao for 7th place last season.

What's Gone?
The team lost Adrian Gonzalez to Malaga, Antonio Luna to Levante, Roger Escoruela to Vitoria, Jon Ander Amelibia to Vitoria, Florian Lejeune to Newcastle United, Sergio Garcia to Barakaldo, Mauro dos Santos to Leganes, Jon Ander Felipe to Toledo and they loaned out Pere Milla to Numancia and Pablo Hervias to Valladolid.
Eibar 2017-18 Predictions
There is no question that Eibar is going to miss Florian Lejeune on defense. Their only other loss of note was Antonio Luna who started in 24 games last season. The addition of Oliveira will definitely help, as will the additions of Alejo and Dmitrovic.
If Eibar is to take the next step and get a Europa League spot they need continued improvement from Sergi Enrich and Pedro Leon who scored at least 10 goals last season. Eibar also needs to find an answer in goal, as they are stuck with either Riesgo or Dmitrovic.
Many people believe that Eibar could challenge for a European spot by finishing 7th but realistically this team is still a mid-level club at best. Mendilibar even went on record as stating that the team is an injury or two away from being in relegation danger.
Eibar does look to be slightly better than they were a year ago but there are still concerns on defense and in goal and it is not like Eibar is an offensive power, as they scored just 56 goals last season. Eibar was solid at home a year ago, as they went 10-6 with three draws but they were just 5-8 on the road with six draws.
A European spot seems a bit too optimistic for Eibar in 2017-2018, as they would likely have to finish with at least 60 points. They still do not have a potent offense and their defense is nothing special. Finishing in 10th place seems the most likely scenario for Eibar in 2017-2018 but don’t rule out a little regression, as this team could fall into the 50 point range this season, which might mean an 11th or 12th place finish.
