The Seattle Seahawks have won at least 10 games in each of the last five years and made two Super Bowls, winning one and losing one. The 2017 season feels like a crossroads season for Seattle, as they have been eliminated in the playoffs in the divisional round in each of the last two years. Is the window for Seattle to win another Super Bowl closing? Oddsmakers believe that the Seahawks have a good chance to go on another Super Bowl run this season, as they made Seattle the favorite to win the NFC in 2017. The Seahawks have a win total of 10.5, tied with Green Bay for the highest win total of any NFC team.

The Seattle Seahawks Will Be a Success If…
They get to another Super Bowl. Expectations are very high in Seattle this season, as the team has failed in the playoffs in each of the last two years. Many people believe the window for Seattle to win another Super Bowl is closing and that 2017 will be their last, best chance for some time to come.
Seattle is known for having a great defense but cracks are beginning to show. Earl Thomas broke his leg last season and threatened to retire, Richard Sherman is no longer the top cornerback in the league and Kam Chancellor can no longer cover top tight ends. Seattle does have a great group of linebackers led by Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright but neither is great in pass coverage.
Seattle won a lot of games over the last five years on the leg of Steven Hauschka but he is now in Buffalo. The Seahawks brought in Blair Walsh and it is hard to believe he will be anywhere near as reliable as Hauschka and that could mean a couple of wins turn into losses in 2017.
The Seattle Seahawks Will Be a Failure If…
The offensive line isn’t any better. You can make a strong case that the Seahawks could be in the midst of a dynasty if they had a decent offensive line. Everyone in the NFL knows that Seattle doesn’t have a good line, yet the front office in Seattle continues to ignore the problem. General manager John Schneider has done nothing but put patches on the problem and he has done the same thing for 2017.
The Seahawks signed Luke Joekel who has been an official bust in the NFL and guard Oday Aboushi who no one has heard of. The Seahawks had the lowest-paid offensive line in the NFL and they did next to nothing to change things. The Seahawks were 25th in the NFL in rushing yards last season and quarterback Russell Wilson was under constant pressure.
The Seahawks have one good lineman, as Justin Britt is a quality center. The rest of the line is a mess, as last year’s first round pick, Germain Ifedi looks overmatched, Joekel is a first round bust, George Fant is a former basketball player and there is nothing to get excited about with Aboushi or Mark Glowinski.
The Seahawks will once again hope that Wilson can escape pass rushers but his numbers last year were down, as he threw just 21 TD passes. Seattle brought in Eddie Lacy to be a physical presence but it hard to see how he will do anything with no holes to run through.
Seattle Seahawks 2017 Predictions
It is inexplicable that the Seahawks haven’t solved their problems on the offensive line. The Seahawks have a capable quarterback in Wilson, a good defense, and a good head coach, but without a capable line it is hard to see how the Seahawks can win another Super Bowl.
Seattle is thought of as a Super Bowl contender but it should be noted that this team had nine games last season that were decided by a touchdown or less. The defense is still very good, but no longer great, and Wilson has not played as well as he did his first two years. It also doesn’t help that the Seahawks no longer have a reliable kicker. The Seahawks struggled to win 10 games last season and they could struggle to get to 9-7 this season.
