There are a bunch of coaches this year who are firmly planted on the hot seat. At this point, there are probably 31 coaches in the NFL who have to feel good about having a shot at returning for the 2018 season. And then there's Todd Bowles. Why the New York Jets bothered sticking with Bowles is beyond us. He's a dead coach walking and has a team that is racing to the bottom at this point to try to get a franchise quarterback. He's in place to take his licks this season and move on, and there just isn't a reasonable result that would keep him in his position beyond this year that we can see.

Jets Regular Season Win Total: 4
The Jets' regular season win total tells you all you need to know about them. They're only projected to win four games by the oddsmakers, a number lower than even the woeful Browns.
In fairness, Cleveland has an easier schedule to play than New York does, as the Jets have to contend with the Patriots twice, the whole NFC South and the whole AFC West, not to mention a couple games with a Miami team that made the postseason a year ago as well.
Super Bowl odds? Should we even mention that New York has the longest odds on the board at 300 to 1?

The New York Jets Will Be a Success If…
... they manage to avoid being the laughingstock of the NFL.
The Jets were beaten three times in December last year, and those losses came by 38, 21 and 31 points. Sure, they beat the Bills and 49ers at the end of the season, but those teams were disasters, too. There are far more games this year against clubs who are going to contend for the postseason, and we count at least six games on the schedule in which they'll be double-digit underdogs. (And it might be far more than that!)
Josh McCown is the worst starting quarterback in the NFL as we see it, and he's only a modestly better option than Christian Hackenberg or Bryce Petty. There's just no future here to build around. If you don't have a quarterback, you don't have a team. The Jets, though, not only don't have a quarterback, but they have the team the most void of talent in the NFL.
The New York Jets Will Be a Failure If…
… Hackenberg has to take snaps this season.
Let's remember that the Jets had a terrible offensive line last season. They have a suspect ground game as it is with Bilal Powell and Matt Forte, and that poor offensive line is only going to make life harder on McCown under center.
Injuries forced Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith and Petty out of the fold last year, and McCown is an injury-prone quarterback, too. If he gets knocked out of the lineup and Petty is either ineffective or also hurt, that will leave the offense to Hackenberg.
We know what the end result is going to be for Hackenberg. The dude is hitting reporters in practice, and this is his second year in this offense.
It's not just what Hackenberg is going to do in this offense that is so scary. It's what it all means. Name one team that has been anywhere near successful that had to use its third quarterback for any period of time over the course of a season. You're having a hard time, too?
New York Jets 2017 Predictions
We don't think that anyone is really going to go 0-16 this year, but there's a good chance the Jets are going to be underdogs in all 16 of their games this season. Not only does McCown have to figure out a way to cover up for a bad offensive line, but both Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are gone. Charone Peake, Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa… Who are these guys?
We aren't sure we would want to play the Jets under their four wins, but we know we wouldn't want to bank on them winning five times either.
