The New York Giants had a nice season in the first year under Ben McAdoo as they went 11-5 but a loss to Green Bay in the playoffs put a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. The Giants are a popular pick to be improved in 2017 and oddsmakers agree, as the Giants are a contender to win the NFC at odds of +1000 and New York is the second choice to win the NFC East at odds of +120. The interesting part about the odds for New York for 2017 is their win total. The Giants are getting a lot of respect from pundits, yet their win total for the regular season is just 8.5. If the Giants are to contend this season they would have to win at least 10 games. That definitely looks possible, as the team went out and added Brandon Marshall to give Eli Manning another target but New York has major issues on the offensive line.
New York Giants Super Bowl Odds
Super Bowl Odds: +2200
NFC Championship Odds: +1000
NFC East Odds: +240
Odds Giants Make Playoffs: +120
Giants Regular Season Win Total: 8.5
The Giants are a darkhorse to win the Super Bowl at odds of +2200. Even though oddsmakers have the win total for the Giants at just 8.5, they think New York has a decent chance to make the playoffs at odds of +120. The problem for the Giants is that they have the 8th-most difficult schedule in the NFL for 2017.

The New York Giants Will Be a Success If…
Eli Manning plays well. The Giants are hoping for one more Super Bowl run with Eli at quarterback. The Giants have Eli under contract for three more years and they are poised to win now. New York signed a big receiver in Brandon Marshall to give Manning another target in addition to Odell Beckham Jr. New York simply has to have Manning play well, as the backups are Geno Smith and Josh Johnson.
The Giants were not that good on offense last season, as they were just 25th in total offense. Far too often opposing defenses were able to focus on Beckham and Eli has no one to throw to. Marshall should help alleviate that problem, as he will give Eli a big target in the red zone. The Giants also took tight end Evan Engram in the first round of the NFL Draft and he could provide Eli with another big receiving option in the red zone.
The New York Giants Will Be a Failure If…
They can't figure out the offensive line. The Giants were a mess up front last season and it doesn’t look a whole lot better going into 2017. The team returns D.J. Fluker, Ereck Flowers, John Jerry and Bobby Hart. None of those players inspires much confidence.
The Giants needed to address the offensive line concerns in the off-season and they did next to nothing. If the line can’t protect Manning then the addition of Marshall and Engram will mean nothing.
New York Giants 2017 Predictions
The Giants were really good on defense last season and below average on offense. It may not be much different this season, as the defense looks just as good, and the offense might not be much better.
The Giants won 11 games last season and they return virtually the same team this year. The addition of Marshall could help but unless the offensive line gets an influx of talent it is hard to see New York matching last year’s win total because of the schedule.
The Giants season could be determined in the first two months, as they have four road games and no sure wins at home with games against the Lions, Chargers and Seahawks. There are very few soft spots for New York on the 2017 schedule which means the team will be in a lot of close games. The NFC East is a very tough division with all four teams expected to contend and the Giants have to face the AFC West this season. The most likely scenario for New York this season is a 9-7 or 8-8 record.
