The Chicago Bears are coming off their worst 16-game season in their history, as they went 3-13 last season. There should be nowhere to go but up after winning just three games, but Chicago does not have a lot of talent on either side of the ball and they didn’t do a lot in the offseason to get people in Chicago excited. Oddsmakers think the Bears will be a little better in 2017, as they set the win total for Chicago at 5.5. Whether or not Chicago can win six games will likely be determined by how well their new quarterbacks, Mike Glennon and Mitchell Trubisky play.
Chicago Bears Super Bowl Odds
Super Bowl Odds: +17000
NFC Championship Odds: +7500
NFC North Odds: +3000
Odds Bears Make Playoffs: +1000
Bears Regular Season Win Total: 5.5
The Bears have no real chance to win the Super Bowl this season, as they are huge longshots at +17000. The Bears are a big longshot just to win the NFC North at odds of +3000. There is not much to like about Chicago, which is why their win total for the 2017 season is just 5.5. Just winning six games might be considered a success for the Bears this season.

The Chicago Bears Will Be a Success If…
Someone plays well at quarterback this season. The Bears went out and signed Glennon to a big three-year $45 million dollar deal and then inexplicably traded up in the NFL Draft to take Trubisky with the second pick. The Bears are betting big on Trubisky turning into a franchise quarterback.
Glennon has not been a bad quarterback in his career, as he has a career passer rating of 84.6. His problem has been playing on bad teams and he is on another bad team with the Bears. Most of his playing time came in 2013 with the Bucs when he started 13 games. Glennon is not mobile so the Bears will need excellent play from their offensive line if Glennon is to produce.
Unfortunately for Glennon, Trubisky or Mark Sanchez, who the Bears also signed, the team lost Jeffery and replaced him with Markus Wheaton and Kendall Wright. The team should get Kevin White back after he missed most of last season due to injury.
The Chicago Bears Will Be a Failure If…
They don’t win more games than they did last year. The Bears won just three times in 2016, their worst mark ever in a 16-game season. John Fox could be coaching for his job in 2017. General manager Ryan Pace didn’t do Fox any favors by trading away Alshon Jeffery and by taking Trubisky with the second overall pick.
The Bears were nothing special on defense a year ago, as they allowed 24.9 points per game. Chicago is hoping that the additions of Prince Amukamara, Marcus Cooper and Quintin Demps will upgrade a poor secondary.
Chicago Bears 2017 Predictions
The Bears could be an interesting team to follow this season. They are being given virtually no shot to compete in the NFC but they do have some offensive talent and the defense might be better. The big key will be the play of Glennon because it seems highly unlikely Trubisky is going to be ready to start as a rookie and you don’t want Sanchez under center. If Glennon plays well then Chicago might be able to steal a few games and be competitive.
The schedule for Chicago is manageable, as they play the 19th-most difficult schedule in the NFL for 2017 but when you are a bad team, no game is easy. There are rumblings in Chicago that Pace and Fox are not on the same page and it would not be a surprise to see a coaching change if the Bears get off to a slow start. That is a real possibility because the Bears face a brutal opening stretch with games against the Falcons, Steelers and Packers in the first four weeks.
If Fox and Pace were on the same page with the future for the Bears then Chicago might have a chance to surprise some people in 2017 but all indications are that they are not. That probably means Fox won’t survive this season and Chicago may not do any better than winning three games again in 2017.
